Michael Farley – Louisa, Virginia

Michael is the executive director of Elk Hill, a not for profit organization providing education and direction to children – ages 11-18 – who experience educational, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Elk Hill operates 7 programs at 5 sites throughout central Virginia. Michael served in the Peace Corps in Makindu, Kenya in the late 1970s. He has returned to Makindu 20 times in the past 20 years.

Michael sits on the boards of the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Education Facilities, the Virginia Council of Private Education, the Virginia Coalition of Private Provider Associations and the Makindu Children’s Program. He is also the vice president of the Laikipia Baraka School Board.

Michael lives with his wife, Lee Ann, 3 horses, 5 dogs, 7 goats and 9 chickens on their small farm in Louisa County, Virginia.
